We consider ourselves way lucky to be able to work in a business where we get to do what we love. But when we started out, we never dreamed we’d get the opportunity to actually sponsor some of the most recognizable names in off-roading.
Sponsoring builder/drivers took a little more doing than we first anticipated. Yes, we wanted people who did well in their chosen specialties, but they also needed to represent our brand in their approach to what they do and their dedication to building and racing.
We think we back some of the best, most professional and committed racers in the business. We are proud that they are part of our team and it always gives us a kick to see the TMR Customs logo on the sides of their buggies as they fly through the air, bounce off of rocks or climb that hill.
Tim Cameron – Timmie!!! What do you say about a guy who’s been building his own buggies for over 10 years, was the 2015 & 2016 Southern Rock Racing Series champion (and southern division champion), drove his own creation, ‘Unfinished Business’, to his most recent win in the SRRS on July 1 (which once again put him in the lead of the SRRS driver standings), and who loves dogs? We say we’re honored to sponsor Timmie and we look forward to his continued success on and off the course.
If you want to see 12 of Tim’s builds, and some gravity defying photos and videos of Tim in action, visit his website at TimCameronRacing.com.
Justin Keilman – Justin won the 2015 World Extreme Rock Crawling Championship Series Grand Nationals and also took home 1st place in the inaugural “Trail Hero” event in St George Utah. ‘Extreme’ isn’t quite a strong enough word for what Justin can get his buggies to do and where he can get them to go. A native of California who now lives in Phoenix, AZ, Justin’s rock crawling exploits have garnered him national attention in the racing press. To say a driver is talented is one thing, but to see that sheer talent get him out of a jam in the middle of a run is a real treat; so check out this video Justin coming off a 20-foot high rock face – and then visit his Facebook page for more.
Jeff Caudill – The ‘youngster’ in the TMR stable, Jeff won the East Coast Off-Road Racing Series in his rookie season in 2015. TMR is the lead sponsor of Jeff’s ride, Team TMR Customs #513, in the Ultra 4 Unlimited 4 Wheel Drive Racing series. In their most recent race, Jeff and his team faced an ‘uphill’ battle in more ways than one, needing to replace a blown motor before qualifying 9th for the race. The team then fought through some mid-race mechanical issues to finish 16th out of 30 starters. Not a win, not a podium, but we’re just as proud of the effort put in by Jeff and his crew.
Jake Burkey – We’re not sure who’s more famous in the world of rock bouncing, Jake or his RIOT Buggy. Competing in the same Southern Rock Racing Series as Tim Cameron, Jake and Riot Buggy took the win at the 2016 SRRS finals. But success doesn’t take away from Jake’s ‘in the dirt and grease’ love of building and off-road racing. Jake shares his deep knowledge of building buggies in a series of videos on the BustedKnuckleVideo YouTube channel. These are some of the best ‘how tos’ we’ve come across on a range of topics, from off-road shock tuning, to building a roll cage for a rock bouncer.
Take a look at Jake’s website BurkeyRacing.com then pop on over to TMR Customs and shop for the Jake Burkey ‘Riot Buggy’ Signature Series Trailing Arm Kit – put to the test on the Riot Buggy itself.
And One More Sponsorship – If you’re looking for something closer to home, and something you might be able to actually compete in, visit the TMR Customs Off Road Racing Series website page to learn more about this five race series, with three different vehicle classifications, that’s run at some of the best courses in Southern Ontario.
