TMR Customs Forged Lifetime Heims with Poly Races - How to Rebuild!

How to Rebuild TMR Customs Forged Lifetime Heims with Poly Races

Keeping your heims in top shape is easy with TMR Customs' Forged Lifetime Heims featuring Poly Races. Follow this step-by-step guide for a proper rebuild.

Tools & Materials Needed:

  • TMR’s Poly Lifetime Heim Assembly Tool

  • Snap Ring Pliers (For newer Heims with C-Clips)

  • Flat Blade Screwdriver & Pick (For older Heims with Spirolox Rings)

  • High-moly grease (Amsoil Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease NLGI #2, RCV Performance Synthetic Moly Grease, or equivalent)

  • Clean rags or shop towels

Disassembly Tips

  1. Clean the Joint: Before starting, thoroughly clean the joint to remove dirt and debris.

  2. Use the Right Tool: The TMR  Poly Lifetime Heim Assembly Tool is essential for safely removing the snap ring.

Assembly Steps

  1. Apply a light coat of grease inside the heim housing.

  2. Insert 1 poly race into the bottom of the housing.

  3. Apply a light coat of grease to the ball.

  4. Press the ball into the housing against the first race.

  5. Insert the 2nd poly race into the housing against the ball.

  6. Place the red washer on top of the race.

  7. Place the snap ring on top of the red washer.

  8. Place the tool onto the red ring.

  9. Line up the machined flat on the tool with the snap ring ears. This is critical for clearance.

  10. Gently apply pressure with a press or vise to preload the races. You only need to apply enough pressure to get the red ring to sit below the snap ring groove. ***IF TOO MUCH PRESSURE IS APPLIED YOU WILL DEFORM THE RED WASHER!***

  11.  Use snap ring pliers to compress the c-clip and move it into the snap ring groove.

  12. Release the press or vise, remove the tool.

  13. Inspect the snap ring to confirm it’s fully seated in the groove.

By following these steps, you’ll extend the life of your heims and maintain peak performance. If you need any additional parts or tools, visit TMR Customs!
